Aloha Friday Pictures of Hawaii | The Shops of Lanai

Feb 15th, 2008

Today is Friday February 15, 2008, which means it’s Aloha Friday Pictures of Hawaii day. This week, we’re taking you to Lanai City for a quick stroll to a handful of shops there.

About Lana’i

Containing only one city, the population of Lana’i is roughly 3,200 (based on the census of the year 2000). It is dubbed the Pineapple Isle because back in the Hawaii plantation days, Lanai had the world’s largest pineapple plantation.

The City is encompassed with Norfolk Pines as you can see in the pictures of below. If you would like to getaway from the hustle and bustle of the city and enjoy a weekend of seclusion from the urban life, Lana’i is definitely the place to go. Need a place to stay? Try The Lana’i at Manele Bay (near the sea) or the Lodge at Ko’ele (inland) both managed by the Four Seasons Resort.

The Little Shops of Lana’i, the Pineapple Isle

The city of Lana’i is small, but continues to grow at a steady pace (not quite sure if that’s a good or bad thing). Here are just a few little shops on the Pineapple Isle.

    1. My wife and I love to go shopping in faraway places. It is always interesting to see what shops in other locales have to offer.

    2. Your photos bring back memories of my stay on Lanai two years ago. My favorite shop was Dis N’ Dat. This reminds me that I have a friend on Lanai that I need to visit. Aloha from Rob

    4. I like to call Lanai City, the “un-city”. What a quaint and colorful town. You’ve taken some great photos! I have a photo of the Gifts of Aloha shop, too. They sell my friends’ handmade soy candles and perfumes that are made on the Big Island. :-)

    5. I’ve been on Oahu for fourteen years and have never made it to Lana’i for some reason. Mahalo for the lovely tour, and for joining in the fun with the Carnival of Aloha!
