What’s Your Preferred InterIsland Airline: Hawaiian Airlines?

Jan 24th, 2008

The cost of living in Hawaii is definitely not what it used to be a decade or two back. When gas prices go up, so does everything else…including the cost of Hawaii travel airfare.

Interisland Air Travel Options

Considering the financial and convenience aspect of interisland travel, what is your preferred Hawaii interisland airlines? Well, let’s examine our options…

Hawaiian Airlines

Hawaiian Airlines is probably the most popular Airline in Hawaii. They service all major Hawaiian Islands except for Moloka’i. Aside from traveling interisland Hawaii, they also extend flights to the United States Mainland (California, Nevada, Washington, Oregon, and Arizona), and Internationally (Australia, the Phillipines, Samoa, and Tahiti).

Hawaii interisland air travel tickets normally range from $49+ one way.

Go Hawaiian Airlines

Go Hawaii Airlines is one of the newest Airline to Hawaii, and famous for their $1.00 one-way airfare tickets sales that they have had in the past. Go Hawaii Airlines often have specials and promotions, and Go services all major Hawaiian Islands. Their one-way airfare tickets range from $29+.

Hawaii’s Island Air

Also servicing all major Hawaiian Islands, I think it’s safe to say that Island Air is the second most popular and well established airline in Hawaii. One-way airfare tickets range from $39+.

Aloha Airlines

Aloha Airlines offers interisland flights to all major Hawaiian Islands and also to the Mainland in California, Nevada, and Illinois. As of now, one-way tickets go from $108+.

*Update on Aloha Airlines:  Aloha Airlines is no longer in service.

Various Charter Airlines (Pacific Wings Hawaii, etc.)

Would you like to charter a plane and/or don’t mind riding smaller aircrafts? Hawaii charter airlines (such as Pacific Wings) offer interisland airfare also. Pacific Wings’ tickets start from $39 one way.

Which Airline do you prefer?

Well, personally, I’d have to go with Island Air. They’ve been reliable and very convenient in all of my experiences. I travel interisland using Island Air roughly 3-7 times a year, and no problems as of yet.

So, what’s your personal prefeence? And Why? We’d definitely love to hear your thoughts. Also, feel free to update us on any information concerning Hawaiian Airlines | Hawaii interisland travel, and we will update this article accordingly.

*Another quick update:  Due to the rising cost fuel, Hawaii interisland airline tickets have gone up.

    1. Personally I think I’d prefer the one made from chocolate. Although in saying that, chocolate and travel sickness probably don’t mix too well. ;)

    2. Well, I don’t know about chocolate, but candied ginger is great for travel sickness.

    3. I’ve only ever flown on Hawaiian … and that was kind of by accident. Coming back from Iraq, I missed my connecting flight in LA, and had to fly through Maui. Unfortunately I was too tired to see much. Oh well, maybe next time.

Really diggin your blog BWT … will link to it in my blogroll … I’ve got the Haole perspective covered … Local Kine will compliment nicely. ;-)
